When we embarked on the For The City initiative to raise funds for the renovation of the historic First Baptist Building, we knew we had a significant challenge ahead of us. As we got input from financial professionals who advise for non-profits and churches, they indicated that they thought our community would be able to raise $1 million together, at most. We still have pledges coming in, and haven’t yet calculated the monetary value of goods and professional services that have been donated, but wanted to provide you with an update as of today (11/20/14). This past weekend, when we invited you to invest in what God’s doing in Philadelphia, you committed $2.2 million!
So, in total, between the $3 million in lead donations already received, which enabled us to buy the First Baptist Building in cash, the $2.2 million committed this past weekend, and the $1 million gift we’ll receive when we raise the $4 million for this phase of the project, we have a total of $6.2 million dollars committed!
First, thank God! Thank God for how he’s already provided for us. I’m so thankful for how God has moved our community to give generously; I’d love to have you join me in praising God for his provision for Liberti.
Second, it’s not too late! As we mentioned, we still have pledges coming in - if you weren’t at Liberti this past weekend, or haven’t been able to turn a pledge in, you can still do so by simply clicking here to use the secure, online version of our pledge form. Also, if you’d like to donate goods or professional services, you can do so by contacting Mike Harder, Liberti’s executive pastor.
Third, pray with us and stay tuned! Pray together with us, as we’re pursuing grant writing efforts and continue to see pledges come in, that God would provide for the remainder of this initiative.
Conventional wisdom for nonprofits and churches says that an organization/church like ours raising double our annual budget is considered very successful; raising four times the annual budget is extremely rare; so far, Liberti Church has raised over six times our annual budget!
Thank you, and thank God together with me!
