Through our summer internship program, Liberti Church seeks to engage college students in a multicultural experience with immigrants in South Philadelphia. During their time here, interns are discipled and mentored, as to help them grow in Christ and discern their gifts and calling. They are partnered with different non-profit organizations and given opportunities to learn and grow professionally, all while being involved in the local church.
The summer internship program is the collaborative effort of Liberti Church and the Aquinas Center, an organization that is focused on ministering to the immigrant communities in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Who should apply: This internship is for undergraduate college students who wish to engage in urban ministry.
Dates: May 31, 2015 - July 11, 2015 (6 weeks)
Weekly Time Commitment: 40+ hours per week (varies slightly depending special events).
What do I need? A willing spirit and open heart. This internship is fully funded. A transit pass and dormitory-style housing at the Aquinas Center are provided. Interns are given a food stipend and will work with the other interns to plan, shop for, and prepare meals.
What will I do? Engage in a multi-cultural experience in South Philadelphia while working with non-profits and the local church. The schedule will vary week to week. Fridays are sabbath days for rest, prayer, and recreation in the city. The rest of the week will be structured between non-profit hours, service projects, independent study, group discussions, mentorship, and formal times of group prayer, reflection, and instruction.
Additional details: There are a total of six spots for this internship, as we believe that it's essential that the interns live in a small, cohesive, community. Interns will live, work, and socialize together, all while discerning God's call for their lives. Interns are also paired with a member of Liberti Church who will serve as a mentor to them throughout the internship.
