Liberti’s initiative to purchase and renovate the historic First Baptist building in Center City Philadelphia is a compelling opportunity to live out the vision that’s shaped our church from our earliest days in a living room on Passyunk Ave: being a church for the city!

The For the City initiative is Liberti’s opportunity to sink deep roots into the very heart of Philadelphia: to secure a permanent home, exponentially expand justice, ministry, and cultural engagement opportunities, and to write the next chapter of the long legacy of worship and service to the city at 17th and Sansom St’s.

17th and Sansom is a strategic place for Liberti to call home!  The Rittenhouse Square neighborhood is the nerve center for the entire Philadelphia region. It is the most densely-populated area in the region, and the population of downtown Philly has grown by roughly 200,000 residents since 2000. Center City is home to over 43% of the jobs in Philadelphia, over 400 cultural and arts organizations, and is second only to Manhattan in population of U.S. city downtowns. And the storied institutions around Center City Philadelphia welcome more than 121,000 students to downtown Philly every year.
